leopard ugg boots feel bad for Talen Horton
Considered a strong Illinois lean leading up to last Thursday night’s announcement, Talen Horton Tucker is now bound for Iowa State.
Controversy and rumors have floated since regarding why the Chicago Simeon standout didn’t choose Illinois.
“I feel bad for Talen Horton Tucker and his family,” City/Suburban Hoops Report publisher Joe Henricksen told Loren Tate in his weekly podcast, ‘Tatelines: Unedited.’ “Up until a few days until the commitment, I didn’t think Illinois had a chance. They were able to secure that official visit . and a big underrated part of it was his connection to the players.”
What about the alleged beef between Horton Tucker and Morgan Park’s Ayo Dosunmu, the lone Illini commit?
“From everything I’ve gathered, they’re not the best of friends,
but these two kids aren’t enemies,” Henricksen said. “The adults in this, whether it be college coaches to families to AAU, were in the wrong. I don’t think it was an Ayo vs. Talen situation at all. I really don’t.”
How will this affect Brad Underwood’s relationship with Simeon and its coach, Robert Smith?
“I just don’t think Rob Smith and Simeon believe it was handled the way it should have been handled,” Henricksen said. “Right now, there’s going to be some tricky times between Illinois basketball and Simeon.”
