ugg button boots Alex and Ani braclets top list of holiday must
STATEN ISLAND Whether you’re seeking to take advantage of Black Friday sales or shop during the upcoming weeks, there are certain hot items from newer, more affordable tablets to Alex and Ani bracelets that are already flying off the shelves this holiday season.
In your attempt to get that perfect gift for that special someone, you may want to shop early especially if it’s a hot item that may become scarce at local stores as the holidays approach.
Perhaps the hottest gift items this year are personal tablets. While many shoppers opt for a new Apple iPad, others are seeking more affordable tablets and Kindles to allow recipients to do everything from read best sellers and listen to their favorite tunes to play video games.
“All types of tablets are popular. They have come down in price and Samsung is among the most popular,” said Adam Brodsky, store manager at the New Springville Best Buy store. “The kids like the Kindle Fire because they can download games, apps and more.”
And the tablets can be purchased for anyone from tots to grandparents.
“Toys ‘R’ Us shoppers are eager to get their hands on the many kid and family friendly tablets available, as children are increasingly using these tech devices to do homework, play favorite apps, watch movies, listen to music and more,” said Adrienne O’Hara, a Toys “R” Us spokeswoman, noting that popular tablets include Tabeo e2 and Samsung Galaxy Kids Tab.
In the computer world, “touch screen laptops” that can function like a tablet are destined to be popular this year.
“You have a computer, and if you want a tablet, you just take the screen off and use it as a tablet,” said Brodsky.
When it comes to all the kids on your holiday shopping list, many arts and crafts items are in high demand this year.
“This summer’s ‘craze’ around Cra Z Loom has only continued with kids all across the country designing their own necklaces, headbands, bracelets, earrings,
rings and more,” said Ms. O’Hara.
“Kids are also loving other creativity items, such as Sew Cool from Spin Master and Totally Me! by Victoria Justice products, which allow children to use their imaginations to conceptualize and produce their own fashion accessories.”
Boys and girls alike will also have some requests for Santa Claus to drop off Monster 500 cards and cars and Ugglys hand puppets.
“Kids love all things funny and foul, including the brand new Monster 500 line of creepy cool cars, trading cards and playsets, all of which tie back to a super fun Android and iOs racing app,” said Ms. O’Hara.
“The Ugglys also are topping kids’ wish lists, as these repulsive, interactive, electronic hand pups make dozens of disgusting and hilarious sounds that will have children (and mom and dad) rolling on the floor laughing,” she added.
Jewelry lovers both male and female of all ages will want to purchase an Alex and Ani bracelet. These charm bracelets come in gold and silver finishes, and can be adorned with beads.
“This product will be a ‘must consider’ for the holiday season. It’s the new and upcoming jewelry with a statement of bold, beautiful and tasteful. It’s sophisticated and glamorous with a sparkle,” said David Albertson, Staten Island Mall senior marketing manager, who noted one mall retailer that carries these popular bracelets is Gerald Peters Gold Mine.
When it comes to a gift for the music lover, hot items are headphones, such as the Beats Solo HD headphones, said Julia Fennelly, a Kohl’s spokeswoman, who noted the retailer is offering Thanksgiving and Black Friday deals on the item.
Hot fashion gifts include those from Michael Koors,
which has a store in the Mall. Snakeskin satchels and totes and crystal aviator sunglasses are being showcased in the designer’s winter collection.
