They flew off shelves last season thanks to their striking resemblance to the pricey designer version.

And now Aldi has reintroduced its popular knock off UGG style slippers just in time for the festive season.

The 14.99 mules, modelled on the Australian brand’s classic 80 Scufettes, are cut from cow suede and sheepskin with a thick furry lining and will be in stores from December 14.

And keen to capitalise on the pre Christmas hype, the German supermarket announced their return on social media this week, sending shoppers into a frenzy.

One London based customer enthused: ‘The best sheepskin slippers I have ever bought. The fur hasn’t squashed down like in other slippers. Great value, just like Ugg slippers but a fraction of the price.’

It’s not the first time the retail giant has pitted its cut price goods against pricey designer items;

STATEN ISLAND Whether you’re seeking to take advantage of Black Friday sales or shop during the upcoming weeks, there are certain hot items from newer, more affordable tablets to Alex and Ani bracelets that are already flying off the shelves this holiday season.

In your attempt to get that perfect gift for that special someone, you may want to shop early especially if it’s a hot item that may become scarce at local stores as the holidays approach.

Perhaps the hottest gift items this year are personal tablets. While many shoppers opt for a new Apple iPad, others are seeking more affordable tablets and Kindles to allow recipients to do everything from read best sellers and listen to their favorite tunes to play video games.

“All types of tablets are popular. They have come down in price and Samsung is among the most popular,” said Adam Brodsky, store manager at the New Springville Best Buy store. “The kids like the Kindle Fire because they can download games, apps and more.”

And the tablets can be purchased for anyone from tots to grandparents.

“Toys ‘R’ Us shoppers are eager to get their hands on the many kid and family friendly tablets available, as children are increasingly using these tech devices to do homework, play favorite apps, watch movies, listen to music and more,” said Adrienne O’Hara, a Toys “R” Us spokeswoman, noting that popular tablets include Tabeo e2 and Samsung Galaxy Kids Tab.

In the computer world, “touch screen laptops” that can function like a tablet are destined to be popular this year.

“You have a computer, and if you want a tablet, you just take the screen off and use it as a tablet,” said Brodsky.

When it comes to all the kids on your holiday shopping list, many arts and crafts items are in high demand this year.

“This summer’s ‘craze’ around Cra Z Loom has only continued with kids all across the country designing their own necklaces, headbands, bracelets, earrings,

rings and more,” said Ms. O’Hara.

“Kids are also loving other creativity items, such as Sew Cool from Spin Master and Totally Me! by Victoria Justice products, which allow children to use their imaginations to conceptualize and produce their own fashion accessories.”

Boys and girls alike will also have some requests for Santa Claus to drop off Monster 500 cards and cars and Ugglys hand puppets.

“Kids love all things funny and foul, including the brand new Monster 500 line of creepy cool cars, trading cards and playsets, all of which tie back to a super fun Android and iOs racing app,” said Ms. O’Hara.

“The Ugglys also are topping kids’ wish lists, as these repulsive, interactive, electronic hand pups make dozens of disgusting and hilarious sounds that will have children (and mom and dad) rolling on the floor laughing,” she added.

Jewelry lovers both male and female of all ages will want to purchase an Alex and Ani bracelet. These charm bracelets come in gold and silver finishes, and can be adorned with beads.

“This product will be a ‘must consider’ for the holiday season. It’s the new and upcoming jewelry with a statement of bold, beautiful and tasteful. It’s sophisticated and glamorous with a sparkle,” said David Albertson, Staten Island Mall senior marketing manager, who noted one mall retailer that carries these popular bracelets is Gerald Peters Gold Mine.

When it comes to a gift for the music lover, hot items are headphones, such as the Beats Solo HD headphones, said Julia Fennelly, a Kohl’s spokeswoman, who noted the retailer is offering Thanksgiving and Black Friday deals on the item.

Hot fashion gifts include those from Michael Koors,

Orlando, about 2.5 hours by air from Cleveland, is served by several airlines with direct nonstop flights.

It very hot in the summer, so consider that when making your plans, especially with young children. Swimming pools at the Disney hotels are amazing, especially between Yacht Club and Beach Club properties where I most recently stayed. They make a great place to cool down after a few hours in the parks. Disney World parks and attractions cover an area the size of San Francisco, so it virtually impossible to see and do it all on a single visit. I recommend staying at a Disney resort because the many perks include free transportation to the parks and one to two hours extra at selected parks. If you fly and stay at a Disney World hotel, a free Disney World Express bus takes you and your luggage between the airport and hotel. At the end of your stay you will get your airline boarding pass from the hotel when you check out.

If you drive, you now can enter the free parking garage at Disney Springs directly from the freeway. A ramp from Buena Vista Drive leads you into the garage, where digital overhead signs direct you to empty parking spots. They called Magic Hours, and they give guests an extra hour or two beyond the regular operating schedule at one of the four parks. When you check in, you learn about the schedule so you can plan.

In the hottest part of the day, you can return to your hotel, cool off in the pool and take a long afternoon nap. Awake refreshed for nighttime fun, which can last until 11 or even later at Disney Springs.

The beloved theme parks Epcot, the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios have a lot that new. And the transformation of the former Downtown Disney, announced three years ago, has morphed into Disney Springs. That waterfront hub has many dining, shopping and entertainment options.

The typical Disney stories begun at theme park attractions continue at Disney Springs. Consider, for instance, Jock Lindsey Hangar Bar, a personal favorite. This aviation themed lounge is inspired by the adventures of Jock Lindsey, frequent pilot for Indiana Jones. It jampacked with vintage travel posters among its old timey artifacts and drinks with their own stories. One, the Cool headed Monkey, comes from Jock adventures in Africa.

Foodies are very likely to enjoy Disney Springs.

Morimoto Asia in a dramatic two floor space with grand halls, a cocktail lounge and waterside seating. Here you find extraordinary late night sushi in the Forbidden Lounge and peek into the glass walled kitchen to watch the preparation of Peking duck and traditional dim sum. Just opened is a new walk up window on the patio with snacks such as takoyaki (octopus, nori, okomiyaki sauce), Morimoto sticky ribs, curry rice croquettes, pork egg rolls and taiyaki (snapper shaped pancake filled with sweet adzuki red bean paste).

Gorgeous cakes and other sweet treats are the province of Amorette Patisserie, with its stylish desserts and large special occasion treats. The new D Luxe Burger moves way beyond ketchup and mustard with a quartet of dipping sauces and handmade buns plus artisanal gelato milkshakes. Among the most interesting: the Southern Classic, a beef patty topped with fried green tomato, pimento cheese and bacon. And then there El Diablo, a chorizo blend burger with fried banana peppers, pepper jack cheese and chipotle mayo.

Opened less than a month ago in the heart of Disney Springs is the new Town Center a growing collection of shops that so far include Tommy Bahama, UGG, Kate Spade, Sperry and Sephora. More than 40 more shops will open in phases throughout the summer.

Reach the Spanish revival style area from a promenade across the springs, which, as the story goes, replicate an old time Florida settlement with timber framed structures once used in the citrus and ranching industries. Wolf Sausage Co., The Daily Poutine, YeSake, and Aristocrepes.

The Daily Poutine, which grew from the Canada pavilion in Epcot, salutes the Quebec based french fry extravaganza framed around fries topped with cheese curds and gravy. Too heavy for me, at least in the Florida climate, but they been gobbled up by park guests since the dish debuted.

Aristocrepes fills traditional crepes with yummy savory and sweet ingredients, such as beef with horseradish creme and a s crepe with marshmallow cream.

Back in the theme parks, visitors will find a new lineup of attractions this summer, including afterdark adventures in Animal Kingdom. The Kilimanjaro Safari, for instance, is an entirely different place at night, and the screams from those riding Expedition Everest and Kali River Rapids seem much louder in the evening. That park Tree of Life rivals the fireworks with enchanted fireflies and animal spirits appearing among its branches once darkness falls.

Over at Epcot, Anna, Elsa and other beloved characters from the film will welcome visitors aboard a new Frozen Ever After boatride debuting June 21 in the Norway pavilion.

Guests will meet new friends from the new Dory movie at Turtle Talk with Crush.

Beginning June 17 on the Cinderella Castle stage at the Magic Kingdom will be Mickey Royal Friendship Faire, with 10 new friends from different animated worlds.

ugg australia classic short boots chestnut gets the goal and sends Marcellus to another Section III Class B title

Chittenango Marcellus High School girls soccer coach Laurie Updike describes Madison Belvito as being a bit on the shy side. The ninth grader describes herself as cold, which is why she replaced her cleats with Ugg boots as soon as the game ended.

There was also something cold about how Belvito used her speed to run down a pass that started some 40 yards away that seemed to slip through the defense into space just outside the goalie box. And in the flick of her right foot, Belvito deposited the winning goal in overtime.

The score gave Marcellus a 2 1 victory over Clinton Friday night at Chittenango High School to give the Mustangs the Section III Class B championship. against the champion of Section II.

Marcellus junior Molly MacLachlan started the winning play near midfield. She saw Belvito streaking down the right side of the field and sent the ball on a diagonal pass that rolled between Clinton defenders and into open space.

Belvito used her speed to reach the ball first. She never hesitated. Even though Clinton goalie Marissa Cornelius came out to challenge, Belvito sent the blast immediately to the goal and into the net. It came 92 seconds into the first overtime.

was no doubt in my mind Maddie was going to get to the ball, Updike said. our speedster. She the one who you would think above everyone else gets to every ball. Belvito said she was not the initial target of the pass from MacLachlan.

was supposed to go to Lexy (Bird), Belvito said. didn quite get to her foot. Then it got to me. I just shot it and it went in.

knew she wasn going to be able to touch it because it was too far ahead of her. So I thought I run onto it. I got the touch before the goalie did. I just shot it immediately. I knew I had no time. She was going to come out and get me. So I had to shoot it as fast as I could. Mustangs won their fifth Section III title since 2003 and their second in three years. They also avenged last year painful loss to Lowville on penalty kicks in the championship game. That it happened on the same field was not lost on the players.

Marcellus dominated long stretches of the game against Clinton. With superior possession,
ugg boots outlet sale gets the goal and sends Marcellus to another Section III Class B title
it seemed most of the game was played in front of Cornelius. It took 50 minutes for the Mustangs to finally break through. It came after a bizarre series of throw ins in which nearly 10 consecutive tries were knocked out of bounds by the Comets. One finally got to the corner, where it was crossed in front of the goal. Abigail Fallon and Belvito converged on the crease. Fallon got the touch and the goal, though Belvito made sure after it had crossed the line by hitting it again.

But Clinton kept hustling and it finally paid off. After Cornelius made the game’s best save on a short range blast by Brielle Filtch, the Warriors outhustled Marcellus on some 50 50 balls in the midfield and got a play going. Maureen Lewis of Clinton won a possession near the sideline and sent a perfect feed on goal. Hannah Shankman got to the pass and ripped it into the net with 6:26 left in regulation for a Clinton goal.

It was a jolt. Updike said it was a good jolt because the Mustangs refocused their efforts. Clinton never got another good scoring chance and once the game got into overtime, the Mustangs stepped on the gas pedal, got the winning goal and put the Warriors away. They were once again Section III champions.

While the dust settled over Syria, Trump redirected Carrier Strike Group One, led by the USS Carl Vinson, to the Korean peninsula from a scheduled stop in Australia.

That sparked several days of escalating tensions and a war of words between the President and despotic ruler Kim Jong un, who denounced the move as ‘reckless.’

In response Trump tweeted that the communist nation was ‘looking for trouble’, again asking China to step in otherwise he would set about solving the issue himself.

Xi Jinping, the Chinese premier, then moved 150,000 troops to the North Korean border in anticipation of a flood of refugees should Trump choose to strike.

The last time people were this interested in the subject of war seems to be July 2006,

when North Korea carried out a set of long range missile tests.

That was the same month 206 people lost their lives in the hotel attack in Mumbai, India, carried out by a group of terrorists, and when the second Hezbollah Israel war took place.

“It seems like every time you turn around, somebody’s pounding a garage sale sign at the top of the street,” says Bob Fritts, owner of Fritts Financial Services in Concord Township. “Consumer spending is way down. People are looking to raise additional funds to make ends meet. Especially with the unemployment rate rising close to 10 percent, it makes it more valuable to clean out your junk.”

Nationwide, garage sale listings on online advertiser Craigslist have increased 80 percent this year, company officials said.

Chrissy Walters, a teacher at Edison Elementary School in Willoughby, says she holds a garage sale each year at the Willowick home of her mother, Jan Komar. This year, things were hopping much earlier than usual.

“We opened at 9, but our first person showed up at 8:30,” Walters says. “I feel like we’ve been busier than in past years, which is good, because we have a lot of junk to get rid of. We can always use the extra money. My husband says I have to get rid of my old clothes before I get more.”

Walters’ customers snapped up items like a cot for $5 that had been priced at $10 and a porch swing for $5.

“We’re proud garage salers,” Komar says with a laugh.

Diane Mayer, another Willowick resident, was at the East 327th Street sale shopping with her 11 week old morkie dog named Daisy May happily parked in her arms.

“I like going to garage sales,” Mayer says. “I like finding old cookbooks, and it’s fun. We just had a garage sale, and people were talking about the economy.”

Secondhand stores like Plato’s Closet in Mentor also are thriving.

“A lot of people are coming in to sell their clothes for gas money,” Plato’s Closet manager Sam Urankar says.

“And a lot of people are coming here to buy back to school clothes, because they can get brand name stuff for $6 to $15, versus like $60 or more at the mall.”

In the top five, I’d have to include Australia II winning the America’s Cup in 1983 and the subsequent get on the piss green light given by Prime Minister Bob Hawke to our country’s workers.

Then there was my first genuine open mouthed freak out I can recall having via TV, when the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded on take off in 1986.

Michael Jackson busting out the moonwalk for the very first time at the Motown Awards in 1983 also has to be up there (trust me, it was unbelievable how big a deal this was at the time and he only does the move for a few seconds).

Lastly, and not to put too fine a point on it, was the appearance of a young woman named Alex Wileman as the Mello Yello girl ..

I thought you lived your life ‘on your own terms’, anon yet there you are stuck like a bored pig in a boring fundamentalist country terminal, herded like a sheep in cattle class.

Only downside is that in anything smaller than a Gulfstream G200 you have to serve your own peanuts as they don’t have a hostie on board but once you get onboard a G350 or the larger Dassault you even get “hosties”!!!

My 80’s moment was Live Aid. I stayed up with my two best friends and watched the whole thing. Being a tragic U2 fan back then, I was glued to the screen when U2 came on and right there we had living proof that Bongo was the annoying twt with a heart, even in his youth.

As much as I adored U2, the surprise (rousing,

energetic, charasmatic) of the event was Queen. I sang along, to my friends’ embarrassment, to all of the songs having been brought up on all of that (along with Alice Cooper and Fleetwood Mac) for better or for worse. Genius.

Ahhh,.

Mike Tyson beating Trevor Berbick in 86 After that, finding boxers to get into the ring with Mike Tyson became even more difficult than it already was..

80’s Video games; The standard Donkey Kong,Gallaga and Space invaders(7o’s into 80’s )ate up alot of my money . If i saw a Space Invaders machine today ,i would probably line up to have a go .

I hope there are some good videos to watch today people…..

I rememder Alex Wileman as a v attactive young media/tv type in Newcastle about 1979 1980. She may have had a modelling/pageant history “Miss something??” pre tv. She was a Newcastle local and certainly turned heads.

Although I have always watched lots of TV I struggled to find a 80’s moment, but came up with Dallas late 70’s?? to early 80’s. It was different to all SOAPS that had gone before, big TV stars, big far fetched stories, big money, oil,

Texas, big sound track and it was v popular. So there you go DALLAS. (anyone remember that?)
