The Sarnia Legionnaires have received nationwide publicity from an unexpected source.

Hockey commentator Don Cherry was presented with a Legionnaires jersey on live TV during the Coach’s Corner segment of Hockey Night in Canada Saturday evening. His sidekick, broadcaster Don MacLean, handed the sweater to Cherry.

“This is from Sarnia, the Legionnaires gave you this gorgeous Legion sweater. I’ve finally got a chance to give it to you, with your name on the back, for Remembrance Day, MacLean said.

As the two men held the uniform up for several seconds, Cherry said, that great, look at that. I’ll give it to Mel Price. is a close friend of Cherry’s and a former president of the Legion branch in Cherry’s home town of Kingston. Two years ago, when Price was too ill to lay a wreath at a Remembrance Day ceremony, Cherry filled in for him.

At the time, Price’s son, John, told the Kingston Whig Standard, has a love for the military and for the Legion. The newspaper added Cherry has always felt sorry for the many young Canadians who lost their lives in wars, including a relative who was killed on Nov.7, 1918, just four days before the end of the First World War.

Legionnaires marketer Greg Burr gave MacLean two sweaters last year, one for him and one for Cherry, when CBC came to Sarnia to film a Hockey Day in Canada episode.

Legionnaires General Manager Bob Williamson said the club is thrilled by the recognition.

awesome, it’s a dream come true to have your hockey club mentioned on Coach’s Corner, he said. He added, was a nice tribute to the sweater and to the Legion. We are very proud of that sweater and our kids are proud to wear it.

In a custom Armani Priv gown, Lady Gaga glided onto the carpet with an assistant ready to perfectly lay out the train, so everyone could see the glory of the dress. And then, we basked in it. From the waist up, the dress is sheer with black lace atop a cream undergarment, which paired well with the white roses that are pinned to the shoulders.

These obvious details are enough to make her look a long lasting red carpet memory. However, as the night went on, new information regarding the “Joanne” singer continued to roll in. There is much more to her Grammys look than meets the eye.

The star brought the shoelace braid trend to the red carpet.

As she turned to walk off the carpet, we noticed that the star’s shoelace braids, which we’ve seen grow in popularity on social media. With bleach blond hair, hairstylist Frederic Aspiras braided into two small cornrows that trail the outer edge of her hair. Then, her hairstylist laced black ribbon in the same fashion that you’d lace your sneakers to create a regal hairstyle fit for Game of Thrones’ Daenerys Targaryen and spot on Twitter’s trending list.

Her hairstylist used drugstore products to achieve the standout look.

After peaking our interest, we had to know more about her hair, so we went to her stylist’s Instagram.

“The look is romantic, seductive, Victorian inspired,” he captioned a photo of the products he used, courtesy of John Frieda.

The best part: You can buy all of the products the singer used at a local Target or Walmart. They include the Frizz Ease Curl Reviver Mousse, Frizz Ease Clearly Defined Hair Styling Gel and Luxurious Volume All Out Hold Hair Spray.

Her makeup is inspired by “a dark starry night”.

To achieve her makeup, Gaga’s longtime makeup artist Sarah Tanno used Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner in Blacquer 42 and Magic Marc’er Precision Pen Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner along the top lash line, then blended it over the lids. Then, she swept the shimmery peach shadow from the Marc Jacobs Beauty Eye Conic Multi Finish Eyeshadow Palette in Glambition over the liner.

“Gaga’s eyes were inspired by a dark starry night,” the makeup artist said in a press release. “[It’s] romantic and striking to complement her gorgeous Armani Priv gown.”

Lady Gaga changed her nail color before her performance of “Joanne.”

On the red carpet, the singer revealed black nail polish to match the dark romance of her ensemble. However, during her Grammy performance, we noticed that her nails were pink. Her manicurist Naomi Yasuda told E! News a secret to the beauty change.

“A trick that I use for a lot of my celebrity clients who are wanting two looks in one night is to do a full gel manicure with the lighter color first (RCM Silk Slip) and then paint a polish overtop for the second look,” she revealed to us in an email. “When you’re ready to go back to the base, you can remove with nail polish remover and it will not ruin the gel manicure underneath.”

First, the nail technician used Red Carpet Manicure LED Gel Polish in Silk Slip to give the star a pink toned manicure. Then, she painted Red Carpet Manicure Black Stretch Limo Lacquer on top.

While the dust settled over Syria, Trump redirected Carrier Strike Group One, led by the USS Carl Vinson, to the Korean peninsula from a scheduled stop in Australia.

That sparked several days of escalating tensions and a war of words between the President and despotic ruler Kim Jong un, who denounced the move as ‘reckless.’

In response Trump tweeted that the communist nation was ‘looking for trouble’, again asking China to step in otherwise he would set about solving the issue himself.

Xi Jinping, the Chinese premier, then moved 150,000 troops to the North Korean border in anticipation of a flood of refugees should Trump choose to strike.

The last time people were this interested in the subject of war seems to be July 2006,

when North Korea carried out a set of long range missile tests.

That was the same month 206 people lost their lives in the hotel attack in Mumbai, India, carried out by a group of terrorists, and when the second Hezbollah Israel war took place.

These shocking photos reveal the disgusting state of the 200 per night B run by Gogglebox stars Steph and Dom Parker, where dead insects were found floating in blocked sinks, the oven is black with grease and rotting meat is left languishing in filthy fridges.

The photographs, taken inside The Salutation in Sandwich, Kent, reveal an oven thick with grease as well as overflowing, blocked sinks littered throughout the dirty kitchen.

In one picture, a leg of rotting lamb, wrapped in a leaking plastic bag, drips to the bottom of a fridge which is thick with grime (pictured)

Lifeless insects can also be seen dotted around a revolting orange ‘stew’ of fat, pungent water and leftovers, which fill a blocked waste disposal sink.

Other photos show the inside of an ice machine which is used to prepare guests’ drinks covered in slime and mould, unswept floors and a chaotic storeroom.

The images have surfaced after the hotel’s upmarket restaurant The Dining Room where main courses start at 20 each was slapped with a one star hygiene rating by Dover District Council.

The pictures, including images of the dirty fridge (left) and a haphazard pantry (right), have surfaced as it is revealed the hotel’s upmarket restaurant was slapped with a one star hygiene rating by Dover District Council

‘The freezers are never cleaned out. The dishwashers aren’t cleaned. The fridges have got mould inside them and there are pools of water dripping from fish and meat.

‘Quite often food is left uncovered and unlabelled. People aren’t aware of the hygiene standards when they spend a lot of money there.

Fridges and the ice machine were ‘not clean’ but covered in limescale and there was a ‘lack of disinfection facilities for work surfaces and equipment’.

The report added: ‘Refrigerator temperatures too high in all fridges. They had previously put the hotel on the market in 2013 for 4.5m.

Less than a month ago Dom also lost a tribunal against his former chef, Michael Henderson, and was ordered to pay 3,500 for sacking him with no notice. It is like your shed. It is not your kitchen.’

‘We take matters of hygiene extremely seriously and as a result new chefs have been employed and all corrections required have been completed.’

Last year, the hotel was hit by a series of bad reviews on TripAdvisor. One reviewer, who spent 650 on a romantic two night break, claimed the room was full of flies, the base of the wash hand basin was filthy and the ceiling ‘had a massive stain from what looked like a flooding issue’.

“Just don’t give up trying to do what you really want to do. Where there is love and inspiration, I don’t think you can go wrong.”

That famous quote comes from the late jazz legend, Ella Fitzgerald.

“The First Lady of Song,” was the most popular female jazz singer in the United States for more than half a century, and now almost 100 years after Ella was born, her resounding impact plays on in the Lower Merion School District.

Olivia Hughart and Emma Noel from Bala Cynwyd Middle School are two eighth grade girls who not only sing the music, but also wrote a mission statement detailing why establishing an all girls jazz band in the district is a collaboration the Lower Merion cannot do without.

“Our mission is to support and encourage girls to play jazz, and further introduce jazz culture to girls all around,” as stated in the mission statement by Hughard and Noel. “We have noticed there are not many girls in the jazz program, so we have made the Girls Jazz club to inspire change.”

The band fittingly called the “Key of She,” is made up of almost 20 girls split between Bala Cynwyd Middle School and Welsh Valley Middle School.

Ranging in age from 12 to 14, the band’s final rehearsal, prior to a May 1 festival performance at Welsh Valley Middle School, was held this past week. Donning everything from sports cleats to UGG boots, the group looked every bit the middle school girl. However with seamless transition, giggles gave way to supreme talent and music that seemed to tell a story.

“Statistically there aren’t as many girls in jazz bands as boys,” said Noel, 14. “In our school jazz band [Bala Cynwyd Middle School] there are six girls to 28 boys. It can be a little discouraging trying out for a band that has that big a group of boys.”

Hughart and Noel decided it was time to develop a band that highlighted girl musicians only, and with the help of their teacher,
cheap ugg girls jazz band Key of She set to perform at Welsh Valley Jazz Festival
extended that idea to Welsh Valley Middle School as well. What began as a mission statement and a pitch to the administration, has quickly emerged as a two teacher, 20 musician band preparing to compete at a jazz festival May 1.

“One day I was talking to Olivia [Hughart] after one of our band practices with the boys,” said Noel. “And we said ‘we should start a girls group and maybe then it will make everyone more confident to show their talent and what’s inside them.'”

And talent it shows. From a horn section to an extensive rhythm section, these girls rocked Motown hits with a caliber years ahead of their time.

“I couldn’t have let this band not happen,” said Gregg Eskin Welsh Valley Middle School competitive jazz band teacher. “It’s so interesting to see how these girls communicate so differently than the guys like we’re used to. [The girls] communicate without even verbally needing to communicate. They just know what the other is doing and intuitively what they need to do next. It’s incredible.”

“Part of the fun of jazz though, is it is such a shared culture,” said Josh “Coop” Cooperstein, jazz band teacher at Bala Cynwyd Middle School who is currently filling in for Jenny Neff. “The greats borrow from the greats, borrow from the greats. It’s that kind of lineage where you can tell oh this person listened to him, him and him.”

Hughart and Noel along with the rest of the band members, play with precision, self confidence, and a contagious level of passion for a genre of music one cannot help but move to.

“I’m just hoping we empower the girls of these schools to do their thing,” says Eskin. “That when they have an opinion in rehearsal with all these boys around, they are willing to step up and make that opinion heard.”

If you think that Ugg boots belong in the back of your closet, destined to never see the light of day again, you might want to take a beat.

Why? For one, celeb stylist Rachel Zoe says so. That’s right, the comfy, cold weather shoe (that feels so good it’s practically a slipper) is cool again in time for fall. And lucky for all of us that have a hard time with heels, Uggs these days go with everything. “You can live in Ugg day to night them at home, wear them out and in whatever setting you will still look incredibly stylish,” encouraged the pro.

We’re all busy, so more often than not what you wear during the day winds up being the very outfit that you roll into happy hour in. If that’s the case, you’ve got to make sure that your outfit is versatile enough to transition you from occasion to occasion. Not to say that Ugg spokesperson Rosie Huntington Whiteley’s look would work well for a cocktail party, but the all black, no fuss mentality is the safest way to look classy at any hour. Just be sure to keep it fun with trendy accessories like a colorful fur collar or the model’s edgy choker.

“Don judge me,” the Pittsburgh university student said nervously to a close friend as she prepared to answer a question she had suspected was coming.

After almost dropping out of college because of money problems, the student, 21, suddenly was flush with cash, her tuition and rent bills paid on time, her collection of designer clothes and shoes growing.

Millions of people in the United States and abroad have joined “sugar daddy” dating sites, which charge male users and the occasional “sugar mommy” monthly fees or purchased credits to message attractive younger users seeking money, gifts or access to a financially elite lifestyle. “It is an exchange of intimacy for access to mentorship, someone who can open doors for them.”

A rapidly growing demographic on several pay for dating sites is college students, just as student debt tops $1 trillion and tuition keeps climbing. In 2014, sugar babies received “allowances” ranging from $4,587 in Seattle to $5,874 in New York, for an average of about $3,000 a month nationally, the website reports.

“I tell (the men) straight up I started this because I don have the money to pay for college; my parents won help me pay for anything,” Jasmine told the Tribune Review. She did not want her real name published for fear of repercussions from her parents, school officials and potential employers.

In her third “arrangement” since the spring, Jasmine says she has not had sex with any of the men, although she not opposed to a relationship getting to that point. She said she knows plenty of other arrangements get there quickly.

Of 25 to 30 introductory meetings with potential sugar daddies, Jasmine recalls several times feeling like she didn live up to the man expectations, “mainly because I wasn going to have sex with them on the first date.”

“I don want to be paid for sex,” she said firmly.

The sites reject criticisms that liken their services to prostitution. They say their administrators regularly delete profiles of users seeking explicit exchanges for sex, as well as men flagged by other users for being too aggressive and women using the site to promote their adult webcams. Perkins, chief marketing officer of Arrangement Finders. Its 2 million users include 40,000 in Pennsylvania and 3,400 in Pittsburgh.

Asternack, 50, got the idea when he moved to Miami and came across women having trouble in finding successful men who could afford to take them to fancy restaurants and spoil them with gifts. He said he does not market to college women, although they are on his site.

“Generally, everybody always imagines Anna Nicole Smith with an 80 year old man in a wheelchair that not what this website is about,” Asternack said.

In fact, Asternack said he thinks some marketing approaches by newer sites take the money element too far. Some sites, for example, list what a man is willing to pay monthly or per date and his net worth.

“Once you start negotiating, that a business transaction,” Asternack said. It has nearly 20,000 Pennsylvania members, including 1,101 “generous males” in Pittsburgh, and 1,376 “attractive females” and 123 “attractive males.” Most users are 25 to 35 years old; 37 percent are in college.

One user, an unmarried, 48 year old health care salesman from Hershey who uses the pseudonym “Randy,” said he enjoys bidding for dates as a way to cut out the weeks of messaging it took him to arrange a date on more traditional dating websites.

He estimates he spent about $10,000 over the past year on five women.

“I really like the concept that you can meet people from pretty much all over and get to a date pretty quickly,” said Randy, noting he travels for work, including to Pittsburgh.

Randy said he has never offered a woman an allowance, although he has paid an occasional phone or cable bill. He said some relationships evolved to the point he no longer pays for dates. He hopes his connection with a Miami woman becomes a monogamous relationship.

“I really am looking for love,” he said.

“The women, believe it or not, have so much power in these sorts of arrangements,” Perkins said. “They call the shots of what they want to do and what they don want to do, and money only part of it.”
